The Swiss women also win their sixth game at the World Championships in Uijeongbu in South Korea. The team led by skip Silvana Tirinzoni beat the host team 9-6 in the top game.

The Swiss quartet of Selina Witschonke, Carole Howald, Tirinzoni and Alina Pätz maneuvered themselves into an uncomfortable position early on in the duel between the two unbeaten teams. They fell behind 0:3 in the third end. The CC Aarau team was challenged - and it knew how to respond to the unpleasant intermediate score.

In the sixth end, the Swiss team reduced the deficit to 3:4 with a deuce - and then took a 5:4 lead thanks to two "stolen" stones. Both ends were very close. On both occasions, it was only the official measurement that clarified the outcome of the two ends.

The Swiss took the lead into the tenth end, in which they did not have the last stone for the first time in this tournament. But the Asians were unable to exploit the advantage and missed the chance to at least save themselves in the extra end. The Swiss secured victory with a further two "stolen" stones.

The Swiss team will be in action for a second time on Tuesday. Their opponents will be the Italians.
