The team with the Olympic medal winners Chiara Leone (gold) and Audrey Gogniat (bronze) as well as Muriel Züger had to concede defeat after equalizing the score at 12:12. It was Gogniat's third medal at these European Championships after winning gold in the mixed and silver in the singles.
Rifle shooters Jan Lochbihler, Christoph Dürr and Fabio Wyrsch were narrowly beaten by Austria in the battle to reach the quarter-finals. The Swiss trio were 0.5 points off the pace and had to settle for 9th place.
