Lara Gut-Behrami will surprisingly be competing in the combined team event at the World Ski Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm on Tuesday. The skier from Ticino will form a duo with Wendy Holdener.
After her disappointment in the speed races with an 8th place in the super-G and her elimination in the downhill, Lara Gut-Behrami has unexpectedly decided to take part in the newly introduced nations competition. The other Swiss-Ski duos are Corinne Suter/Camille Rast, Malorie Blanc/Mélanie Meillard and Priska Ming-Nufer/Eliane Christen.
In the new format, national teams of two - a maximum of four per country - compete against each other. The times from one downhill and one slalom are added together. The race starts with a downhill run. In the slalom, the fastest 30 start in reverse order, as in the World Cup. On Wednesday, it's the men's turn.
