Marco Odermatt, now five-time Swiss Sportsman of the Year, remains untouched. In the 2024/25 ski winter, he defends his four crystal globes in the World Cup and becomes World Champion in the Super-G for the first time.

Two years earlier, he had won gold in the downhill and giant slalom at the World Championships in Courchevel. In Saalbach last year, Marco Odermatt closed one of the few remaining gaps in his palmarès. The man from Nidwalden won the super-G on the "Schneekristall" course in superior style, one second ahead of his closest rival.

The high-flyer also celebrated major victories in the World Cup this winter. In addition to his three home successes in Adelboden (giant slalom), Wengen (downhill) and Crans-Montana (super-G), Odermatt also triumphed for the first time in Kitzbühel. On the legendary Streif, he secured the first Swiss super-G victory since Didier Défago in 2014.

Odermatt stood on the podium 17 times in 25 races in the 2024/25 season and thus won the overall World Cup by a clear margin. It was his fourth triumph in a row. As in the previous season, he also took the small crystal globes in the downhill, super-G and giant slalom. The 28-year-old chases record after record and makes everything seem effortless.

At last year's World Cup final in Sun Valley, Idaho, it became clear that this dominance is anything but a matter of course. When Odermatt was interviewed after the last race, his voice faltered. Performing consistently in three disciplines requires an enormous amount of energy. Again and again he felt empty. Odermatt worked intensively on this issue in the summer and found the drive to go hunting for victories and medals again in the new season.
