Grasshoppers miss another opportunity to close the gap on city rivals FC Zurich and possibly avoid the barrage. GC loses 0:2 at home against Servette.
The 33rd minute of the home game against Servette sums up the Grasshoppers' season well. Allan Arigoni first committed a foul, which was punished with a red card via the video images, before Maximilian Ullmann deflected a Miroslav Stevanovic cross into his own goal in the same minute. From then on, the momentum shifted in GC's last game under coach Gernot Messner.
Shortly after the break, Geneva, who have nothing more to win or lose this season, doubled their lead through young Thomas Lopes and were no longer under pressure. GC failed to get a shot on Servette keeper Jérémy Frick's goal after the break.
From Monday, Peter Zeidler will be in charge at Grasshoppers and will work towards the barrage. There is virtually no longer any doubt that the goal of relegation must be achieved via the games against the Challenge League runners-up.
