The men's and women's Tour de France will start in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2027. This was announced by the British Cycling Union and confirms rumors that have been circulating for a good two weeks.
After London 2007 and Leeds 2014, it will be the third "Grand Départ" in Great Britain. The first three stages of the three-week men's tour will be ridden in Scotland, England and Wales.
The fact that the Tour of France starts abroad is now the rule rather than the exception. Previous editions have started in Copenhagen (2022), Bilbao (2023) and Florence (2024). This year, the peloton will start its three-week journey in Lille, next year in Barcelona.
