Switzerland will be represented by five female and six male athletes at the European Track Cycling Championships in Konya (TUR), which begin on Sunday. The main focus for both genders will be on the foursome - also because the supreme discipline will be at the center of the allocation of Olympic quota places. All those nations that secure a ticket in the team pursuit will also be allowed to compete in the Madison and Omnium in Los Angeles in 2028.

The primary aim in Konya is to take another step forward with a view to the qualification period starting in the fall with the World Championships in China. In concrete terms, this means moving within the range of the national records or lowering them. Last year, the men's four surprisingly won bronze at the European Championships in Zolder. Whether they make it onto or near the podium again will also depend on how strong the other nations perform.

A glance at the entry list suggests a high level, as the world's best specialists are joined by greats such as Lotte Kopecky (BEL), Elisa Balsamo and Filippo Ganna (both ITA), all of whom have already triumphed at the Road World Championships.
