FC Zurich and Lugano start the new Super League season with victories. FCZ won 2-0 at Yverdon, while Lugano beat GC 2-1 at home.
New FCZ signings Juan Perea and Umeh Emmanuel scored the goals in Yverdon. The Colombian Perea scored in the 72nd minute and the Nigerian Emmanuel deep into stoppage time.
In the 92nd minute, the hosts almost turned the game on its head with a 1-1 draw. But Yverdon's penalty, which had already been awarded, was withdrawn because Yverdon's Mohamed Tijani committed a foul on the other side of the pitch that was ultimately punished with a red card.
Uran Bislimi made it 2-1 for Lugano in the 91st minute, after Kacper Przybylko had scored his first goal for the Ticino side after just over an hour and only a few minutes after coming on as a substitute. The Grasshoppers had taken the lead through a penalty converted by Giotto Morandi in the 25th minute. It was the first goal of the new season.
