Jonas Vingegaard will have to do without another important helper at the Tour de France starting on Saturday.

The American Sepp Kuss, winner of the Tour of Spain last fall, is out due to the after-effects of a coronavirus infection. This was announced by the Visma-Lease a Bike team on Tuesday. Bart Lemmen will replace Kuss in the squad.

Kuss was probably the most important helper for Vingegaard on his way to two overall victories in the mountains over the past two years. In Dylan van Baarle and Steven Kruijswijk, other important helpers are out after crashes.
