Two days ago, Marco Odermatt won the sprint downhill ahead of Von Allmen, now the Bernese racer has turned the tables on the original course. The world champion leads in Val Gardena/Gröden after 30 racers.

Von Allmen took three tenths off Odermatt, who started directly in front of him, on the Saslong course and prevented the Nidwald native from taking his third victory in the third downhill of the winter. The Italian Florian Schieder is already 98 hundredths behind the leader in 3rd intermediate place.

Von Allmen, who had a scary moment in the super-G on Friday and crashed on the camel humps, also showed an adventurous run at times on Saturday and was only able to prevent another crash on the second wall with luck and skill. However, the 24-year-old was the fastest in four out of six sections, which is why he can flirt with a fourth World Cup victory.

Odermatt has his sights set on a third podium in 72 hours. On Thursday he won the sprint downhill. On Friday in the super-G, the Czech Jan Zabystran with bib number 29 sensationally prevented Odermatt's 51st World Cup victory.

Unlike usual in the World Cup, the top positions in Val Gardena/Gröden are not yet set in stone after 30 racers. Because the conditions on the Saslong slope improve significantly as the race progresses - more sun at key sections - racers with high start numbers have often caused surprises in the past.
