The Swiss triathletes will tackle the Olympic mixed relay race on Monday with a different line-up. Simon Westermann replaces Adrien Briffod.
Briffod has to miss the start due to a stomach bug. Westermann completes the quartet, which as planned includes Julie Derron, the Olympic silver medallist in the individual race, Cathia Schär and Max Studer.
According to Hanspeter Betschart, Chief Medical Officer of Swiss Olympic, it is not possible to say whether Briffod's infection is related to the water quality of the Seine, which was much discussed in the run-up to the individual races. "A survey of my colleagues from other countries has so far revealed no cluster of gastrointestinal illnesses among athletes who competed in the individual race last Wednesday," says Betschart.
