Alisha Lehmann is missing from the Swiss women's national team squad for the third time in a row.
The 26-year-old was not called up by Pia Sundhage for the two upcoming Nations League games against France and Norway. The player from Bern has barely featured for Juventus Turin this season. Coumba Sow and Naomi Luyet are also missing from the list.
Iman Beney is in the squad instead. The 18-year-old was crowned Swiss champion against Grasshoppers on Saturday. Or Riola Xhemaili: she is celebrating her comeback after a long absence. The 22-year-old midfielder from Eindhoven made her last appearance for Switzerland in the test match against England last December. Nadine Riesen, who missed the last team-up in April due to the Champions League, is also among the returnees, as is Sandrine Mauron.
Pia Sundhage's team will meet up in Saillon next Monday. The away game against France is scheduled for May 30. The game against Norway follows on June 3 at the Tourbillon in Sion.
After four games, the Swiss women are in fourth and last place in Group A2. France lead the table without losing points, while Norway in second place have 4 points and are ahead of Iceland (3) and Switzerland (2).
Sundhage emphasized at the media conference that the squad for the Nations League should not be confused with the squad for the home European Championship. The door for the major event in the summer is still open to many players.
Things get really serious on July 2 with the opening match of the European Championship against Norway. The Swiss group also includes Iceland (July 6) and Finland (July 10).
