The sixth game of the World Chess Championship in Singapore ends in a draw. The world champion Ding Liren did not dare to play aggressively with White against the challenger Gukesh.
According to computer calculations, the Chinese Ding had a slight advantage in the middlegame because Gukesh did not simply seek a draw with Black at first, but wanted to keep a chance of victory open. However, Ding did not trust his advantage and defused the game with a few defensive moves towards a draw.
The overall score is therefore 3:3, and if the match is still tied after the initial 14 games, a play-off in rapid chess will decide the outcome. The world champion will receive the lion's share of the prize money of 2.5 million dollars.
