Inter Milan and goalkeeper Yann Sommer have taken the lead in the Italian championship after beating Torino 5-0 on Monday to close out the first matchday of the Serie A season.
Cristian Chivu thus made a perfect debut as coach of Inter. The Romanian took over after the departure of Simone Inzaghi following the defeat in the Champions League final.
"Cristian Chivu is a complete coach, you can see that in the way he lives with us on the pitch and how he deals with situations. He's very calm, but also very attentive: he has a great mentality and energy," Yann Sommer was quoted as saying in the matchday program, as reported by the ansa news agency.
The Swiss goalkeeper also talks about what is crucial for him when he is on the pitch: "Calmness and clarity are essential aspects of my role, as is the ability to deal with pressure." And of his teammates, "I would take Calhanoglu's shot, but also Mkhitaryan's mentality," he added.
