Young Boys started the new Super League season with a home defeat against newly promoted Sion. FC Basel at Lausanne and Lucerne at home against Servette also lost in the first round.

YB squandered an early 1-0 lead against Sion in the Wankdorf, which Silvère Ganvoula had opened up with his goal. Dejan Djokic (39') and Ilyas Chouaref (66') turned the game around and secured Sion's first away win against YB in the league since 1996. Jaouen Hadjam was shown a second yellow card for the Bernese side after just under an hour.

FC Basel disappointed at Lausanne-Sport. The hosts from the canton of Vaud came away with a deserved 3:2 victory. In the first half, Teddy Okou, Fousseni Diabaté and Kaly Sène scored for Lausanne to give them a 3:1 lead at the break. It was not until the 87th minute that Thierno Barry made it 2:3 with his second goal.

In Lucerne, Dereck Kutesa and Steve Rouiller gave Geneva a 2-0 lead until the 58th minute in Servette's 2-1 win. Lucerne scored the final goal in stoppage time through Lars Villiger and thus too late.

The other winners from the 1st round are Zurich, Winterthur and Lugano, who won their matches on Saturday. FCZ won 2-0 at Yverdon, Winterthur beat St. Gallen 1-0 at home and Lugano prevailed 2-1 against GC.
