Young Boys have responded to their weak start to the Super League season by signing a central defender. Patric Pfeiffer joins the Swiss champions on loan from Augsburg.
The 1.96 m tall German, who has also held a Ghanaian passport since this summer, played eleven games in the Bundesliga last season as a team-mate of Swiss international Ruben Vargas. He will now gain further match practice in Bern.
According to a statement from the club, the loan does not include a purchase option. Pfeifer will return to Augsburg after the current season, where he still has a contract until the summer of 2027.
After five games in the Super League, YB have just two points but have already conceded 13 goals. New coach Patrick Rahmen's team will be without injured central defenders Loris Benito and Mohamed Ali Camara for the time being.
The latter made his first appearance of the season in the last match against Yverdon (2:2), but will miss the next two championship matches again after picking up a red card.
