The Young Boys come to a 2:1 home win against Lugano. Alan Virginius scored Bern's second goal in the 77th minute.

It is perhaps the starting signal for the Swiss champions' great race to catch up. At least the Bernese made a good impression in front of their own fans. The Swiss champions, who were plagued by injuries and had to replenish their bench with three U21 players, were on the offensive with a lot of energy and determination. The deserved three points came from a counter-attack at the start of the final quarter of an hour, when Lugano attacked a little too brashly. Virginius finished off a successful dribble against Lukas Mai to make it 2:1.

YB also owed it to luck that the Frenchman's first Super League goal earned them three points. Lugano had a great opportunity to equalize again in the 95th minute after Lewin Blum handled in his own penalty area. However, Shkelqim Vladi shot over the goal from the penalty spot, triggering great jubilation among the Bernese.

YB were the slightly more active team in the fast-paced and intense match and had the better chances to score. Under Joël Magnin, the team finally seems to be on the right track. The five league games under Patrick Rahmen's successor have resulted in ten points. The gap to the top teams in the balanced Super League is manageable at ten points.
