Lara Gut-Behrami on the brink of her first win of the season in the super-G in Garmisch

The skier from Ticino leads after 30 racers ahead of Kajsa Lie from Norway and the Italians Federica Brignone, Sofia Goggia and Laura Pirovano.

Gut-Behrami was 35 hundredths faster than Lie on the slope, which was softened by rain and wet snow. Brignone and Goggia missed out on the second Italian double victory within 24 hours by 38 and 49 hundredths respectively.

For Gut-Behrami, after four 2nd and one 3rd place, it is the first victory this winter and the 46th overall in the World Cup. She won the super-G in Garmisch, Bavaria, for the fifth time - twice more than Lindsey Vonn. The American, who returned to the World Cup at the age of 40, lost 1.40 seconds to Gut-Behrami on Saturday on the Kandahar, where she has triumphed eight times including the downhill, and could make it into the top 15.

Two tenths behind Vonn was Corinne Suter. The racer from Schwyz, who has picked up speed again in recent weeks, approached the race too cautiously after her 3rd place in the downhill the day before and 3rd place in the super-G in Cortina d'Ampezzo to be among the front runners again.

Michelle Gisin and Joana Hählen were eliminated, Priska Ming-Nufer and Delia Durrer lost almost three seconds or more on the best time.
