Gaoussou Diakité becomes the match-winner with his second goal in stoppage time
Keystone
Winterthur let their perfect start to the season slip away in French-speaking Switzerland. The Zurich side lose 2:3 at Lausanne-Sport after leading twice.
New signing Gaoussou Diakité was the match-winner for Lausanne, who won for the first time in their second competitive game under coach Peter Zeidler. The 19-year-old midfielder, on loan from RB Salzburg, equalized after an hour to make it 1-1 and scored the winner from an acute angle in the 93rd minute.
As a result, the match in the Tuilière had the outcome that the strength of character would have suggested. The home team had the more dangerous chances and dominated the game for long stretches. However, Uli Forte's Winterthur team acted skillfully for a long time, similar to their strong spring on the way to securing a place in the league, which was no longer considered possible. In the end, history repeated itself from the first half of the previous season, when late goals conceded cost many points.
In the 43rd minute, Brian Beyer, the designated successor to playmaker Matteo Di Giusto, who had moved to Lucerne, gave the visitors the lead with Winterthur's only shot on goal in the first half. Christian Gomis immediately responded to the 1:1 thanks to a blunder by completing a counter-attack to regain the lead. It was Winterthur's second shot on goal.
Only the 2:2, which Adrian Durrer was sent off with a yellow card for a foul on Brandon Soppy, finally brought about the turnaround. Stefanos Kapino initially saved Kaly Sène's penalty in the 82nd minute and Sène was only successful in the follow-up.
