This was stated by Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis on Wednesday in Bern on the fringes of a media conference on Gaza aid. For security reasons, he could not say where the children and their relatives were at present. They are on their way from the Gaza Strip to Switzerland.
Switzerland completed the first part of the humanitarian operation at the end of October. Since then, the minors - many of whom are under ten years old - have been treated in specialized children's hospitals. The children and their families initially had to be safely evacuated from the Gaza Strip - with the consent of the Israeli authorities.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 15,000 people - including 4,000 children - also had to be taken out of the war zone for medical treatment.
