According to the indictment, the 28-year-old went to his 50-year-old victim's apartment in Chiasso early in the morning on March 1, 2024 because he wanted to buy cocaine from him. The Somali man stabbed his victim at least 17 times for the "minor motive" that the man he had visited did not have any cocaine for him. According to the indictment, the victim died of internal bleeding, among other things.

The presiding judge described the fact that the perpetrator stabbed the 50-year-old further times, even though the first stab would have been enough to kill him, as "perverse". The 28-year-old had acted with "particularly pronounced ruthlessness".
