Thirty cattle died in the fire on a farm in the canton of Vaud on Monday night. Two people were slightly injured, one of them a firefighter.
The fire department brought the fire, which broke out late on Sunday morning in Peney-le-Jorat VD, under control during the night, as reported by the Vaud cantonal police on Monday. The building with a residential part, stable and barn was completely destroyed by the flames.
It was initially unclear why the fire broke out. The public prosecutor's office launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
The neighboring houses had to be evacuated due to heavy smoke development. 68 firefighters were involved in the extinguishing work. One of them sustained minor injuries.
