Organic is becoming increasingly important in the Swiss milk market: the proportion of organic milk in the retail trade is now 43%. This is shown by current market data from the Federal Office for Agriculture (FOAG) for January 2026.

This means that almost every second milk sold now comes from organic production. Compared to the previous year, this represents a significant increase.

Prices for organic milk are also stable to slightly rising. The producer price for organic raw milk rose slightly compared to the previous month, while sales volumes in the retail trade also increased.

In addition to drinking milk, processed dairy products, such as yogurt, butter and cheese, also achieved relevant organic shares. Depending on the product category, the percentage ranges from single digits to over 20 percent.
