On Thursday evening, a 62-year-old man reversed his car into the shop window of a furniture store in Schwarzenbach SG. The man was driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a police statement. The damage to property amounted to several tens of thousands of francs.

The man was in his car in the parking lot of a furniture store. He lost control of his vehicle while pulling out of the parking space and reversed over several pieces of furniture. He then drove his car into the shop window and a little way into the store. The shop window and other furniture and goods were damaged.

The breath sample showed a value of 0.77mg/l (1.54 per mille). The 62-year-old's driver's license was confiscated on the spot. He will be reported to the public prosecutor's office of the Canton of St. Gallen.
