An argument between two brothers has turned into a crime in the hinterland of the southern Italian city of Naples: In the municipality of Pannarano, a 59-year-old man stabbed his 65-year-old brother to death and then decapitated him, according to the police. He then threw the severed head from the balcony onto the street.
According to Italian media reports, the scene was witnessed by several neighbors. The alleged perpetrator was arrested and questioned. It is still unclear why the fight broke out.
According to initial information from investigators, the two brothers had been living together again under one roof in the family home for some time. The argument had broken out there on Wednesday evening at around 10 pm. After the crime, the younger brother called the police on his own initiative. He then barricaded himself in the house, but then voluntarily opened the door to the officers.
Perpetrator in custody
The police were presented with a gruesome scene: the 65-year-old's body was mutilated by numerous stab wounds and his head was missing. The alleged perpetrator is now in custody.
According to Italian media reports, there had been several arguments between the brothers in the past. The 65-year-old, a widower, had returned to his home country some time ago after retiring from the capital Rome.
