Number of the week 7199 companies with verified CO2 reduction targets
Globally, 7199 companies have had their CO2 reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). Half of them are headquartered in Europe, as the initiative's website shows.

34 percent of companies with verified CO2 targets are based in Asia, ahead of North America with 12 percent. Currently, 164 Swiss companies have CO2 reduction targets validated by the initiative.
The SBTi is a global organization supported by business associations, environmental organizations and countries. It creates industry standards for CO2 reduction and verifies them for a fee.
Since last summer, the targets of around 3,000 companies have been reviewed and validated. According to the initiative, validated targets are in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.
