The 76-year-old was skiing with her colleague on a steep and hard slope after 11 a.m. on Sunday, as the Graubünden cantonal police reported on Tuesday. The older woman crashed there and took her colleague in front with her. The two of them slid down the slope and went over the edge. While the 72-year-old woman collided with a tree and came to a halt, the 76-year-old woman slid a further sixty meters and was seriously injured.

The younger skier rushed to her colleague with a broken foot and administered first aid, it was reported. The critically injured woman was rescued from the steep terrain by Rega and flown to the Graubünden Cantonal Hospital in Chur. She succumbed to her injuries there on Monday evening.

Together with the public prosecutor's office, the Graubünden cantonal police have launched an investigation.
