79 people were injured in a collision between two passenger trains near Bratislava in Slovakia on Sunday evening. This was announced by the state rescue service on Monday morning.

No one's life was in danger, it said. The injured were distributed to several hospitals.
According to preliminary findings, a regional express train had ignored a stop signal and had left Pezinok station on the line towards Bratislava, where an express train coming from the eastern Slovakian regional capital of Kosice was also heading towards Bratislava.
The express train ran into the regional train. However, the exact cause of the accident is still being investigated, Ivan Bednarik, General Director of the state railroad company ZSR, told the news agency TASR.
Many students affected
Public television STVR reported online, citing Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok, that around 800 passengers were traveling on the two trains. A large number of them were students who were traveling from their home towns to the capital Bratislava on Sunday evening.
