ABB increased sales, order intake and profit in the third quarter of 2025 and performed better overall at all levels than a year ago. The margin forecast for the year as a whole has been adjusted upwards.

Sales increased by 11 percent to 9.08 billion US dollars, as ABB announced on Thursday. Adjusted for currency and portfolio effects, sales increased by 9 percent. Order intake, i.e. the basis for future sales, rose by 12 percent in US dollars to 9.14 billion, corresponding to an organic increase of 9 percent.

Profitability also increased in line with the higher capacity utilization. The operating margin (EBITA) increased by 20 basis points to 19.2%. At the same time, net profit improved by 28% to USD 1.21 billion.

The previous forecasts for the full year 2025 have been adjusted upwards with regard to the margin. An operating EBITA margin "broadly at the upper end of the long-term target corridor of 16-19%" is now being forecast; previously it was "a higher margin than in the previous year (18.1%)". Like-for-like sales growth is still expected to be in the mid-single-digit percentage range.

For the fourth quarter of 2025, ABB expects comparable revenue growth to also be in the mid-single-digit percentage range. The operating EBITA margin is expected to decline by around 150 basis points compared to the third quarter, "in line with the historical pattern".
