On Tuesday morning, an accident involving two army trucks occurred on the A9 highway between Sion and Sierre in the Lower Valais, causing considerable disruption to traffic. Fortunately, no one was injured, but it was necessary to reposition a tank that was being transported on a trailer.
A 50-ton crane was called in to reposition the tank correctly, as a spokeswoman for the Valais cantonal police told the Keystone-SDA news agency. The tank had moved during the collision, but had not fallen onto the road.
The work to restore road safety could take several hours. In the meantime, the highway between Sion-West and Siders-West remained closed.
