"I can't make any statements about this," the accused said several times on the second day of the trial in response to questions from the presiding judge. He asked the accused, now a 48-year-old woman, how she would comment on several of the allegations made in the indictment.
However, she did say that she had asked foundations for support for her daughter's healthcare costs. She had written around a dozen letters. "But it is very unlikely that I wrote to over 1,000 foundations for support for my daughter," said the accused.
According to the indictment, the woman from Ausserrhoden is said to have written to over 1,000 foundations. She allegedly used some of the money improperly for her own living expenses. The presumption of innocence applies.
