In preliminary questions, the defense lawyers also questioned the admissibility of evidence collected in Italy against their clients, as the raw data had never been transmitted to Switzerland. The public prosecutor requested that these motions be dismissed, as the evidence had been collected in Italian proceedings and not as legal assistance for Switzerland.
The defendants have had to answer to the Basel criminal court since Wednesday. The public prosecutor's office accuses them of repeatedly attempting to recover around half a ton of cocaine that was hidden in a coffee container that had been stored in Frenkendorf BL in the meantime.
According to the indictment, it is a criminal offense to meet with establishments to violate the Narcotics Act. The presumption of innocence applies.
