The Federal Office for Cybersecurity (FOCS) received around 35,700 reports of cybercrime in the first half of 2025, as announced on Tuesday. 58 percent of these concerned attempted fraud. Around one in three of these were calls with the intention of fraud, from supposed authorities. However, the number of these cases decreased.

The scam of advertising online investment fraud has become more popular among criminals. The number of reported cases increased fivefold compared to the same period last year. Well-known people such as the President of the Swiss Confederation Karin Keller-Sutter are often used as decoys to gain the trust of potential victims.

Cyberattacks on critical infrastructure have had to be reported in Switzerland since April 1. 180 such incidents have been reported to the Bacs since then.
