"The data has been collected and validated, and now we are waiting for our investigators (...) to start transforming this huge amount of data into useful information for society," said Moreno. Both devices - each referred to as a black box - were taken to the Cenipa laboratory in the capital Brasília on Saturday for data analysis.
In addition, both engines of the plane will be analyzed in São Paulo to determine whether they were running at full power at the time of the crash, it was said. The preliminary investigation report is to be presented within 30 days.
The VoePass airline aircraft - an ATR 72 turboprop passenger plane - crashed into a residential area of the small town of Vinhedo on Friday afternoon (local time) on its flight from Cascavel in the state of Paraná to São Paulo shortly before reaching its destination. All 58 passengers and 4 crew members were killed - there were no injuries on the ground. Data from the Flightradar 24 platform suggests that the plane descended almost 4,000 meters in less than a minute. Video footage showed the plane spinning in the air before it crashed into the grounds of a residential building and exploded.
Investigation after the accident
The cause of the accident is still being investigated. Experts are also considering the formation of ice on the wings - turning an airplane into "a stone without lift", wrote the Brazilian news portal UOL. According to this, there was a warning of ice formation at the site of the crash. According to other experts, several causes could have led to the crash.
