Numerous high-rise buildings in Bangkok were evacuated at midday (local time) after aftershocks were felt. Three days after the severe 7.7-magnitude earthquake with an epicenter in Myanmar, the earth is still not calm - especially in Myanmar, there are always minor aftershocks. However, no quake was initially recorded in the region on the USGS earthquake monitoring website.

"Authorities are playing it safe"

"I felt it though, although of course it was much lighter than the one on Friday," an office worker in the Sathorn district told the German Press Agency. "I think the authorities just want to play it safe now."

Together with many dozens of colleagues, he stood on the street in front of the Tisco Tower office building. Many other high-rise buildings, such as the One Bangkok shopping mall, the municipal court building and many government offices were also evacuated as a precaution, as reported by the newspaper "Khaosod" and eyewitnesses. The sirens of several emergency vehicles could be heard in the city.
