The military airfields in Buochs (NW), Mollis (GL) and St. Stephan (BE), which were converted to civilian use years ago, are to be used for air force training again in future. The Federal Council is submitting the corresponding sectoral plan for consultation and participation.

The affected cantons and municipalities have until the end of April to submit their comments; the public can comment on the changes from March 4 to April 4, as announced by the Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) on Tuesday.

The army is responding to the changed geopolitical conditions with decentralization. Accordingly, the former military airfields in Buochs (NW), Mollis (GL) and St. Stephan (BE) will also be used for exercises for a short time, including for a few individual flights with fighter jets.
