For the first time in more than 20 years, the cult show "Aktenzeichen XY... unsolved" will once again be broadcast simultaneously from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The participating broadcasters ZDF, ORF and SRF have decided on two Eurovision editions of "Aktenzeichen XY". They will run live on Wednesday evenings in 2025/2026 and present cases from all three countries.

Live broadcasts to Vienna and Zurich have been an integral part of Germany's most successful investigative program for decades. In Switzerland, Konrad Toenz (1939-2015) reported, in Austria Peter Nidetzky (1940-2024). At the beginning of the noughties, however, ORF and SRF dropped out. Criminal cases from outside Germany were then only occasionally featured.

The show, which was devised and hosted for many years by Eduard Zimmermann (1929-2009), relies on viewers to help find suspects and reaches a large audience with re-enacted cases. Rudi Cerne has hosted the show since 2002. More than 600 "Aktenzeichen XY" episodes have been broadcast since 1967
