With over 21,000 solar modules on an area of around 59,000 square meters, the photovoltaic system is set to supply around ten gigawatt hours of electricity per year from 2026.

According to Aldi Suisse, this will make it one of the largest solar power plants in Switzerland. According to the information provided, it will be able to cover the electricity needs of over 3,500 three-person households.

According to the communiqué published on Thursday, construction is scheduled to start this summer. Aldi Suisse says it is thus further expanding its commitment to renewable energies. The company already operates solar power plants at its distribution centers in Schwarzenbach and Perlen as well as on the roofs of more than 80 stores.
