Ackermann comes from Zurich and draws under the name "Oger". He received the award for his cartoon "Halloween 2024". This was published on 31 October by the online satire platform "Die Petarde" and deals with the Middle East conflict, as the Museum of Communication in Bern wrote in a press release on Thursday.

"The Middle East conflict has shown how difficult it is to take a stand, even for cartoonists. After more than a year of war, there is no longer a simple good-and-evil classification, and this cartoon sums that up wonderfully", Marco Ratschiller, President of the Gezeichnet association, was quoted as saying.

The Swiss Cartoon Award was presented for the second time. The jury had 246 cartoons and caricatures from 50 cartoonists to choose from.
