The army has to save money. To ensure that it has sufficient material available for disaster relief, security and support operations, twenty percent less material will be issued for basic and advanced training services by the end of 2025.

The measure will apply provisionally until the end of 2025, as the army announced on Thursday. Systems such as the Piranha, 63 and 2000 infantry fighting vehicles, Leopard tanks, minibuses and Duro troop transporters as well as certain trailers are particularly affected. Their maintenance cannot be fully guaranteed, it said.

Only training and advanced training services are affected by the cost-cutting measures, the army wrote. Armed forces operations, whether planned or unforeseen, are expressly excluded. The army intends to decide in the second half of 2025 how to proceed with the cost-cutting measures.
