In Istanbul, 151 injured people are being treated after the earthquake. They had "jumped from a height out of panic", wrote the Istanbul Governor's Office on Platform X.

However, their lives were not in danger. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya wrote on Platform X that there was no information about fatalities so far. There was initially no information about major damage to property. The city has been repeatedly shaken by tremors since midday, the strongest of which was 6.2.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wished those affected a speedy recovery at an event in the capital Ankara. All state institutions are currently on full alert and are monitoring the situation closely. Emergency teams were investigating the situation on the ground "with the utmost care". "Thank God there is no serious situation at the moment", said Erdogan.
