The handover of office will take place during the Bankers Day on September 17, 2026, the SBA announced on Tuesday. Marcel Rohner has been at the helm of the industry association for five years. The former UBS CEO was quoted in the SBA press release as saying that the time was now right for him to hand over his position.

The SBA Board of Directors thanks Rohner in the press release for his "great services and dedicated work". Under his presidency, the association has further strengthened its visibility and impact vis-à-vis politicians and the public. At the same time, he has succeeded in bringing together different points of view on the Board of Directors and representing the industry's positions with a united voice.

Giorgio Pradelli will now take on the role of Chairman of the Bankers Association in addition to his role as EFG CEO, as the Zurich-based asset management bank also writes in a separate press release. Pradelli is quoted as saying that he feels honored by the trust placed in him: "I am very aware of the importance of this office for the Swiss financial center."

In addition to his role as EFG CEO, the Italian-Swiss dual national is currently also Chairman of the Association of Swiss Asset Management and Wealth Management Banks (VAV). He is also a member of the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees of the Fondation Genève Place Financière and Chairman of the SBA's Private Banking Steering Committee. In the course of his election as SBA Chairman, he will relinquish these association mandates, it is reported. However, he will remain a member of the Board of Directors of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce in Zurich.
