The Swiss banks are introducing a multibanking offering for private customers via the open banking platform bLink from SIX. This allows users to bundle accounts from different banks in a single banking app, as the stock exchange operator announced on Tuesday.

With express consent, these could also be integrated into third-party apps. Eight banks and two third-party providers are currently participating, it added.

In addition, over 30 banks would provide the necessary data interfaces. Further institutions are to be added in the coming years.

The introduction is reportedly based on an industry-wide initiative launched by Swiss FinTech Innovations (SFTI) in 2022 and supported by a joint declaration of intent from the Swiss Bankers Association (SBA) in 2023. A central principle is controlled data access for non-banks with the explicit consent of customers.

The technical basis for this is the bLink platform, according to the announcement. This uses standardized APIs and enables secure data exchange thanks to state-of-the-art encryption processes. The platform is being further developed by SIX together with banks and FinTechs for the Swiss market.
