Recreational accident Base jumper crashes and dies in Stechelberg BE

A base jumper has crashed and died in Stechelberg in the canton of Bern. The victim jumped from a jump site in Mürren with his wingsuit.

The incident was reported to the police shortly before 1.50 p.m. on Wednesday, as they announced on Thursday. The wingsuiter had crashed and died for reasons still to be clarified.

The emergency services were only able to recover the man dead, they added. There are indications of the identity of the deceased, but formal identification is still pending.

The police have launched an investigation into the accident under the direction of the Office of the Attorney General.
