Justice Basel resident before the Bernese High Court after murdering sex partner
A 40-year-old man from Basel has been on trial before the Bernese High Court since Tuesday. At first instance, the man was sentenced to 17 years and 8 months in prison for the murder of his sexual partner.

Before the High Court, the defendant confirmed in principle that it was an accident. It had all happened four years ago, he had been questioned many times and did not want to go over the subject again. He could no longer remember everything.
He had already given his version before the regional court of first instance in December 2023. His sexual partner had had an unfortunate fall during a meeting and then gave no more signs of life.
He panicked and reacted badly by trying to dispose of the body in a body of water. In the end, he ended up at Lake Thun, where he threw the woman, weighed down with a construction site concrete base, into the lake near Gunten. The High Court will announce its verdict on Friday.
