The verdict remains the same: a man from the Bernese Oberland who allegedly pushed two lovers into a ravine in the Kiental valley must serve a prison sentence of 17.5 years. The Bernese High Court confirmed the first-instance verdict on Friday.

The High Court confirmed the conviction for intentional and attempted intentional homicide. The 66-year-old defendant has always denied the allegations. It remains to be seen whether he will appeal the verdict to the Federal Supreme Court.

In November 2019, the accused is alleged to have deliberately pushed a sexual partner into the ravine. The young Afghan was lucky to survive the fall with injuries and was able to raise the alarm. Back in May 2019, the accused allegedly pushed a young Afghan into the ravine. This man died.
