The Bern cantonal police carried out targeted traffic checks in the Bern region at the weekend. They reported 26 people and seized 12 vehicles, as reported on Monday.

The police charged the persons reported with violations of the Road Traffic Act, in particular for unauthorized modifications to the vehicle, as they wrote in a press release.

The police stopped a total of 39 vehicles for a check, it added. They checked 34 of them in a test hall. Signs of unauthorized modifications and technical defects were found on 14 vehicles. 12 vehicles were seized and two others were prevented from continuing their journey.

The police carried out the checks last Saturday in the evening and at night in the Bern region. The main focus of the checks was on vehicles that were causing unnecessary noise and were suspected of having unauthorized modifications.
