Elfenauhof GmbH consists of a five-member operating group with expertise in the areas of agriculture, education and marketing, as the city wrote in a press release on Tuesday. The 12-year lease agreement was concluded subject to the proviso that confirmation of financing is subsequently submitted.

In the future, the farm will focus on diverse agriculture with animal husbandry and vegetable growing, the statement added. A flock of sheep will help to enliven the Elfenau, with other animals such as cows and poultry to be added at a later date.

Vegetable growing will focus on a diverse, long-term self-harvest project with seasonal open-air vegetables and herbs. Various types of grain are cultivated in arable farming.

Diverse plant cultivation and diverse animal husbandry should form the basis for the development of educational and work-educational offers. This includes team members who are already active as course instructors and will offer their work in further training courses and adventure tours. Cooperation with the existing forest daycare center and the learning center is planned, as the city also wrote.

The Elfenau farm has been part of the Elfenaugut estate since 1820. It extends over 24 hectares of fields and meadows. The farm includes a residential building, a stable and other farm buildings.

In order to secure the succession of the current tenant, the tenancy was put out to public tender. A total of 23 teams took part in the two-stage tendering process.
