1260 journeys per year

For some Swiss people, Uber has long been part of everyday life. One Uber fan from Zurich made 1260 trips this year. That's an average of more than three trips per day.

From Lugano to Venice

In Switzerland, Uber is not only used to travel to home parties in the next village. Some even take the service abroad. The longest journey was 323 kilometers from Basel to Belleville in France. For another person, it was 318 kilometers from Lugano to Venice.

Night owls in St. Gallen, Lucerne and Bern

Uber is used at different times in different cities. In Basel, Zurich and Geneva, it is mainly early risers who use Uber. They order the cars between 5 and 8 am. In St. Gallen, Lucerne and Bern, on the other hand, rides were mainly ordered between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. - presumably where night-time connections are scarce.

151 francs tip

The Swiss were generous when it came to tipping: the record was set by a person in Geneva with a tip of 151 francs for a journey. However, customers in Bern, Lucerne and Valais were also particularly grateful. On the other hand, they were stingy in the cantons of Vaud, Ticino and Fribourg.

Hotspots at transport hubs

Most journeys were concentrated in the major Swiss cities. Uber identified Zurich and Geneva airports and the Basel SBB train station as hotspots. For the ride-hailing service, this is an indication that Uber complements existing means of transportation.
