USA "Beverly Hills, 90210" star Shannen Doherty is dead

The US actress Shannen Doherty is dead. Doherty, who became famous as Brenda Walsh in the series "Beverly Hills, 90210", died on Saturday as a result of breast cancer, her spokeswoman Leslie Sloane confirmed to Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa. "After many years of fighting, she lost her battle with cancer," Sloane explained. Doherty, who was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1971, announced in 2015 that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Doherty also repeatedly struggled publicly with an image as a complicated colleague. According to reports, there were repeated arguments on set and Doherty did not seem to get along with her co-stars. In 1994, she left the series and, according to reports, was personally dismissed by producer Aaron Spelling.
